Survived...

the drive down Highland Road during a pretty intense thunderstorm...seems like a very appropriate time to blog

Today's Goodwill finds (& I even had a shopping partner today!)
Found these really interesting coasters with the animals made from mother of pearl. The top coaster is a ram. As for the bottom coaster, I assume it's a dog? Opinions? Here is a close up...

Moving on to this weekend's garage sale finds...
My sweet boyfriend agreed to  chauffeur me around town Saturday morning while I looked for some treasures.

This white beaded clutch with yellow hues by Corde' Bead circa 1940/50's was by far my best find of the weekend. The woman said she hated to let it go and that it belonged to her grandmother. It was a true bargain at only $1.

I also found this set of prints marked "Wedgefield pictures". The lady said that they were antiques...I am doubtful but either way I like them and they suit my apartment well AND they were only 5$ for the set of two!
I also found the following 3 items this weekend at a garage sale in Woodstone. The lady gave me all 3 pieces for only a buck. The first two teacups (well atleast I think these are teacups...does anyone know the proper names for these?) are from Japan.
Too bad this little one didn't come with a saucer
Speaking of teacups...I ADORE this strawberry teacup dog bed!
This goes on the wish list for sure. Harley really deserves it!

my NECK of the woods

Collection of necklaces given to me by my grandmother when my greatgrandmother passed away. I've been looking for replacement stones for the one on the far right..suggestions?

tassel style necklaces, both found at Goodwill

The one on the far left and middle are both lockets which were given to me by my grandmother. She also gave me the disco ball which is by far one of the best pieces of my collection. Honey is by far one of the most giving people I know and has made significant contributions to my various collections. The little owl on the far right was my moms, he is super cute!

Found this really cool Egyptian style choker at Here Today, Gone Tomorrow thrift store. Suprisingly, I've been able to pair it with alot more outfits than you would think, even an emerald
green formal dress!

heavy gold flower style necklace found at Here Today, Gone Tomorrow.

Left: pale blue, pink, and gold woven choker style neck found at Goodwill
Right: Sarah Conventry necklace found at Goodwill.
Both very recent finds!

For Harley

Today my little boy got hit by a car :( He is in ICU at the LSU vetschool. He experienced some trauma to the head & is going to be monitored over night. Harley serves as a huge inspiration to my collecting...here are some pieces in honor of him.

The follow are some older pieces that are part of my poodle pin collection. The holiday stocking pin with the tiny poodle poking out was given to me by my grandmother, Honey. The other 2 were purchased at Absolute Antiques off Government Street.

The following picture is a tiny poodle figurine from Japan. From my great grandmother's home in St. Francisville, LA.
I love you Harley!

but I wanted a hot towel

So I'm all set for dinner with my disco ball necklace that was my grandmother's (Honey) and my black patent leather cara clutch found at the Clothes Closet in St. Francisville, La. Only flaw of the night: no warm hand towels at Ichibans. On the otherhand, the new fiesta roll is dynamite.
So I thought the picture above was actually a post but since I'm not quite blog savvy yet, it's going to have to just stay there awhile until I get this thing going. I actually think it's quite fitting so it may just stay there forever.

I found this collection of necklaces at a neighborhood garage sale in Kennilworth. The owl was missing his eye when I originally purchased him (I think it adds character).Far right is a necklace with hand painted birds on it. Here is some detail.
